Are we here to perfect the task we have chosen as our life’s work to benefit ourselves and our families or are we here to help others accomplish this and sacrifice our own success for the good of the whole? We know it is not possible to attain perfection so some say: why bother. So then how do we know we have even mastered ANYTHING. We also often don’t know if anything we said or did helped ANYBODY. Does that mean we don’t try?
You hear the expression that nothing is perfect. We may try to be, but we will never will be-a fruitless task if there ever was one. Try as we might, we will ALWAYS make mistakes and hopefully not repeat those mistakes, but we will most certainly make new ones. So why bother?
The Hindus and Budists believe we carry the “Karma” of past mistakes into the next life until we correct them. We can’t even escape our sins and mistakes in death. The Christians say we go to purgatory to correct them before we are even allowed into Heaven. A recent survey showed that most people believe in reincarnation, yet the Christians do not. there is even some evidence to suggest that such references to reincarnation were removed from the early Bible.Yet isn’t that what we are told–Jesus will return one day in the flesh. Isn’t THAT reincarnation? Where is the original Bible anyway?
But the Hindus tell us that the soul moves toward perfection over, hundreds, thousands or even millions of life times. How is this possible you say? Not that many people have lived on the earth in its entire existence. No problem, they say. There are not only millions of planets in this Galaxy but millions of Galaxies and maybe even millions of universes.
Well, a hint of the science of all this may be found in Brian Green’s Book: “The Elegant Universe” which tells us that first Isaac Newton explained the universe and his theories withstood the test of time for hundreds of years until Einstein proved him wrong with his theory of relativity which was then followed by Quantum Physics and now Nuclear String Theory which says everything is composed of energy “strings”. IE There is no such thing as solid matter. Green explains beyond my words to paraphrase(you just have to read the book) that at the time of the Big Bang, all of the matter we we in our universe was compressed into a point that would make a grain of sand look huge. He goes on to say no one really knows how many of these grain of sands that have come into and out of existence over the eons of time. We know our universe is expanding and we were originally told there is not enough visible matter that would allow it to stop expanding and start back into the other direction(IE, The Big Crunch)-That is until they found “Black Holes”, object so dense that not even light can escape so we can’t see them. We only know they are there. We only know they are there by the force of gravity they exert and God forbid you got close to one. Even if you got close to one and managed to escape and got home, you would find it 10,000 years later, even if you were only gone for an hour by the clock on hour ship. Sound crazy? Well, the crazy part is that the science we have discovered so far strongly suggests its all true which simply delights my atheist, scientist friend who suggests that The Blessed Virgin was artificially inseminated by aliens(The Immaculate Conception) as suggested by a Harvard Professor in a book called “Alien Encounters” and when Jesus Ascended after he rose from the dead(The Bible actually says that he went into the sky with two men in silver suits), my friend suggests he got into his space craft but vowed to return. Well, according to Einstein, now proven to be correct, if Jesus went “home” for the weekend and returned at the speed of light a mere 100 hours later based on the clock in his ship, it would be almost 7000 years late on earth. Sound crazy? Is it really? Who knows?
Now what does this have to do with us and our journey to perfection. Maybe the Hindus are right and we have all had millions of lifetimes in millions of universes over eons of time and we are pure energy beings. Scientists try to tell us what the world is really like, but do they REALLY know? Does ANYONE really know?
The Theologians would have us believe that in order for the world to function at peak efficiency, God gave each of us a task to do that was interdependent on everything else. Thus means we are required to perform our task as peak efficiency-not only for our own survival and well-being, but for the survival of our planet.
All I can say is that if this is true, we are all in BIG trouble because most people today don’t give a damn about society or doing a good job as long as they can make a lot of money for themselves.
Sadly, this is so true in my field–the legal field. There are those lawyers whose only concern is making as much money as possible as quickly as possible even if it means bending or even breaking the rules–as long as they don’t get caught, of course. You see them on TV all the time and how can ANYONE possibly keep up with all the unethical, immoral or downright illegal behavior, especially when the ones in charge of doing something may be just as crooked as the wrong doers. You know the old saying: “Who Polices the Police”. I have encountered this all to often myself.
Does this mean we throw up our hands and give up? Of course not. We saw a glimmer of hope in the “occupy” movement and other more spiritual movements. Maybe Jesus Christ WILL return after his long week-end of rest from saving mankind 2000 years ago. Unfortunately, things will have to get a LOT worse before they get any better. Jesus better get here quick if we are to be “saved”.
Suggestions are ALWAYS welcome. There are a LOT of smart people out there, lets hear from someone OTHER than the hackers and scammers and spammers of the world for a change. There is only one way to describe them–SCUM.
